My Journey in Game Development as a Hoosier

Hi! I’m Andrew Jorgensen—game designer, storyteller, and proud Hoosier with a passion for immersive worlds. I believe games have the power to do more than entertain—they can inspire, connect, and encourage people in meaningful ways. That belief shapes every project I create.

🎓 Graduate & Creator
In 2025, I graduated from Indiana University Indianapolis with a B.S. in Game Design & Development from the Luddy School of Informatics, finishing with a cumulative GPA of 3.514. It was the culmination of years of growth, resilience, and dedication to honing my craft.

Now, I’m stepping forward as a graduate ready to bring creativity, collaboration, and a strong work ethic into the industry.

From conference floors to 48-hour sprints, I’ve pursued opportunities that stretched my creativity and sharpened my instincts:

  • GDC 2024 & 2025 – Connected with leaders in the industry, expanded my network, and learned from the cutting edge of innovation.

  • Global Game Jam @ IUI (2023 & 2024) – Built working prototypes in Unity within 48 hours, flexing rapid design and teamwork.

  • (2025 GGJ was missed due to illness—but I returned with fresh perspective and even greater drive.)

  • Time Guardians™ – Unreal Engine 5 independent study. Built a futuristic HQ with detention areas, teleportation systems, and original branding assets.

  • 🌿 SporeWood – Professional client project. Led UI & Level Design, boosting booth engagement by 20%.

  • 🎮 SpellSling Arena – Modular level creation & AI optimization for smoother combat flow.

  • 🎙️ Dawn of the Garmír™ – Skyrim-inspired audio drama with original scripts, layered soundscapes, and voice acting.

  • 📜 The 12 Hands RPG System – Original tabletop system with dynamic combat & progression.

  • 🧠 Gauntlet of Legends (MTG Variant) – Custom Commander-style play with innovative lieutenant mechanics.

Game jams have been my forge—intense, fast, and formative. They taught me how to adapt on the fly, collaborate under pressure, and translate bold ideas into playable experiences.

When I’m not building worlds, I’m exploring them—through Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering. These games fuel my imagination, deepen my systems design skills, and remind me why storytelling matters.
